Six Weeks of Online Learning: Reflection and Progress

Six weeks into online learning, it is a good time to take a step back and reflect on how our students and staff have adapted. The transition has not been easy, but there has been a clear sense of routine and purpose developing across the school.

Students are engaging more consistently, understanding expectations, and managing their learning more independently. Staff have also adjusted quickly, maintaining structure and clarity in lessons despite the change in environment. As a school, our focus has been on being practical and responsive. Teachers have created learning packs for all year groups to support work away from the screen and to help families maintain consistency at home. Following parent feedback, we have also adjusted the timetable to include more breaks and reduce screen time, which has had a positive impact on student focus and wellbeing.

The Rushmore Playbook continues to underpin teaching across all lessons. The same expectations around lesson structure, modelling, questioning and participation remain in place, which has helped provide consistency for students regardless of whether they are learning in school or online.

In addition, we have introduced targeted afternoon intervention sessions across all phases, including KG. These sessions focus on key areas such as phonics, reading and mathematics, with Arabic and Islamic personalised sessions being introduced this week. This allows us to provide more focused support where it is needed and ensure that progress continues. We will continue to review what is working, listen to feedback and make adjustments where needed. The aim remains the same, to provide a consistent, structured and supportive learning experience for every student.

Thank you to parents for your continued support and to staff and students for maintaining a strong level of commitment during this period.
