Following several weeks of online learning, our return to school has been guided by a clear priority: restoring a sense of normality for every child, as quickly and as thoughtfully as possible. Transitions like this are never just logistical, they are emotional. That is why well-being has sat firmly at the heart of everything we have done, alongside a continued focus on delivering high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom.

While academic consistency matters, we also recognize something equally important. For many children, school is defined not only by lessons, but by the moments in between, the experiences, the excitement, and the memories that shape how they feel about being here. Rebuilding that sense of joy has been a key part of our approach this week.

Our Book Week captured this perfectly.

Led with energy and creativity by our wonderful librarian, Ms Ruth, the school has truly come alive. As I shared with the students, reading is dreaming with your eyes open. It opens doors to new worlds, sparks imagination, and builds a lifelong love of learning. This week, that message was not just heard, it was felt across the entire school.

We saw students pause everything for dedicated reading time, completely immersed in their books. We welcomed parents into school to share stories with classes, strengthening that vital home-school connection. Across all year groups, there were activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a genuine enjoyment of reading.

Today’s finale brought everything together. Our Rushmore Fashion Show saw students confidently walk the catwalk, proudly dressed as their favorite book characters. It was a moment of celebration, not just of books, but of confidence, expression, and community. The energy, the smiles, and the pride on display made it clear this is a day they will remember for a long time.

As we continue to move forward, it is these moments, alongside strong routines and high expectations, that will define our school culture. A balance of academic excellence and meaningful experiences.

Because ultimately, school should be a place where children feel secure, challenged, and inspired.
