Middle School Program
Welcome to our dynamic middle school program. In our middle school, learner-focused teaching takes center stage as we recognize the unique developmental needs and individual strengths of students aged 11 to 14. Our approach goes beyond traditional methods, emphasizing personalized instruction that caters to diverse learning styles and abilities. Teachers in our middle school are dedicated to creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment where students actively engage with the curriculum. By incorporating student interests, real-world applications, and collaborative projects into lessons, we empower learners to take ownership of their education. Through this learner-focused approach, we aim to foster not only academic success but also a lifelong love for learning, critical thinking, and self-discovery. In our middle school, each student is seen as an individual with unique talents and potential, and our teaching practices are tailored to support their growth and development.

Our curriculum, aligned with Massachusetts State Standards, prioritizes continuity, avoiding the typical dip often experienced at the start of the middle years. Our aim is to engage students, shaping their self-concept, boosting self-esteem, and fostering an environment that directs their energy positively.

Middle school students are grouped in form bases with dedicated form tutors overseeing their welfare and progress. Classes are a mix of ability and subject-based sets, allowing for differentiated instruction tailored to individual needs. Lessons take place in specialist rooms, optimizing resources and creating subject-specific environments. The curriculum covers core subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, along with Arabic, Islamic studies, UAE Social Studies, Moral Education, French, Art & Design, Music, and Physical Education.

Middle school is a pivotal time for career exploration and life skills development. Our program includes a component on careers education, life skills, and study skills. Students engage in practical experiences, including workplace visits and presentations from employers. They learn interview skills and curriculum vitae preparation, gaining insights into further education opportunities.

Our carefully planned curriculum builds on primary years, focusing on subject-specific content while fostering a well-rounded education. Rushmore American School is committed to providing a rigorous, engaging curriculum that prepares students for success in high school and beyond. With a focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, our curriculum aims to shape informed, well-rounded citizens ready for the challenges of the 21st century.
